Rise of the Republic also introduces nine new playable factions, among which includes Rome, the great state-city of Syracuse, and Senones' Gallic tribe.
The expansion depicts the events that lead up to the Second Founding of Rome and beyond, offering a new campaign for players to tuck into, featuring the landmass of Italy and its surrounding areas. Rise of the Republic acts as a prequel to the main campaign, taking place in the year 399 BC, at a time when Rome was poised for greatness. Things aren't all hunky-dory for the empire however, as its very existence is teetering precariously on a knife's edge. Sega has announced that Total War: Rome II's Rise of the Republic expansion will launch on August 9.
